History

The Warrego Warmblood Stud was founded in 1980 by Lindsay and Mary Goodwin with a couple of mares and a few service fees. Mary has since married Geoff McArthur and the stud is now run under the watchful eye of Lindsay Goodwin and Heather Weeks. The stud has grown over the years and now manages up to 60 horses at any one time training Dressage, Eventing and Jumping horses as well as a dedicated Warmblood breeding program.

Some of the highlights of the stud to date include winning the 1.50m Qld State Title as well as wins in World Cup Qualifiers with Warrego Sandy and Warrego Sandon. Second in a World Cup Qualifier with Warrego Joshua. Also to win a World Cup Qualifier but not bred by the stud is Warrego Gidgea Coals who we have owned since he was 4.

Gidgea was trained to C grade by Lindsay and then sent to Ron Easy for 2 years to continue his training. He came back just into B grade.

In 1999 Robert (13) took over the reins on Gidgea competing in the juniors. With a few starts in A&B grade at the local shows. Robert and Gidgea had their first major win in 2000 taking out first place in the Pittsworth Grand Prix.

In January 2004 Gidgea, with rider Robert Goodwin, won the Bega World Cup Qualifier. Robert and Gidgea were in contention for the Athens Olympic Games after obtaining their Certificate of Capability jumping in the Nations Cup riding for Australia in Florida (USA) with only 4 faults (there were only 4 clear rounds).
